  • SLB construction.

i have not been smoking much at all over the past few months ,mainly down to work commitments and not really having a great deal of time on my hands.
I attempted to open a box of Siglo VI two days ago and ended up having to use a screwdriver to remove the lid from the box. It took considerable effort to remove the lid and I was scared at one point that I was going to damage the cigars. Has anyone experienced anything similar on the Cohiba boxes. I have never come accross anything like ths before. I am smoking the VI as I type this and they are smoking really well.

It's not unusual. Recently I experienced it with a cab of Siglo II and some years ago with a cab of Upmann Connoisseurs.

There is only one thing to do: work on the grooves of the lid with sandpaper until it adjusts… takes 3 minutes!

I have a 10box of Sig VI's whos lid is very tight as well.

I suspect the wood takes on moisture and expands a little. Not like they are precision engineered in the first place.

This thread makes me imagine a very sad cigar lover standing over a box of mangled Cohibas while Michael Caine shouts "you were only supposed to take the bloody lid off!"

Seems its every marca... 10 box of Epi Especiales had to be broken open once! Proper squeaky bum stuff busting a cab apart to get at the goodies!
