  • Holiday Smokes

I've been away so haven't been posting for a while.

Here's what I managed to get through in a couple of weeks:

RyJ Wide Churchill ? a fabulous smoke

Gurkha Special Ops that I had been saving for the right moment. Unfortunately it was too big and the same all the way down. This was a big cigar that didn't develop for me, a disappointment.

    PSD4 'nuff said

Cuaba Piramides LE 2008 ? This blew me away. I smoked with black coffee. I realised a little way through that I hadn't cut enough off as the draw was too tight, I snipped a little more off an it made all the difference.

HdM Palmas Extra ? bought on holiday and smoked from the Humi. So good I went back for more.

AF Hemingway Best Seller ? drank water with this and it didn't really help. I struggled a bit with it.

    HdM Epicure Especial ? Wow!

HdM Palmas Extra ? Just had to have another.

Cuaba Generosos ? I really enjoyed this cigar. I think Cuaba is my favourite brand.

    RyJ Belvedere ? Surprisingly flavourful.

Partagas Lusitania ? A suitable smoke to finish the holiday.

I was away for two weeks but didn't smoke every day.

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

A fortnight in Kos, brilliant time. It was very quiet due to the time of year, most days we had the pool to ourselves. It as a 30 apartment complex and for a few days 4 others were occupied but for the last week there was just us and another family of three.
We got on really well with the owners too and that always helps. My favourite moment was when I was offered a free drink - I had been drinking Highland Park 12 year old and the guy poured me a half pint, yes a half pint, of HP12 as my nightcap - for free!

I've had a few Gurkha before and have enjoyed them so I was really looking forward to this one but it was just too big and too "samey" all the way through. If you can try and get a Gurkha Empire - the ones I have had have been good.

Have to agree regarding the HDM Epicure Especial. I could not take to these when they were first released and preferred the Epicure No2, however I currently have about 10 left in my humi from a 2010 box and they are first class.

Sounds like a great holiday, I too only tend smoke every other day on hols, especilaly if with the family. Seems I 'd rather have two or three on one day & then leave it for a day or so before wanting another. At elast that way my wife's not moaning of me stinking of cigars every day & after all it's her holiday to.
