  • A thread closed?

I'm quite shocked that threads can just be closed at the arbitrary whim of a mod! The thread was quite an interesting one and had plenty of scope for debate with many valid points already raised, i like this site, but hey, it looks like the thought police are amongst us!

Point is this, no rules had been broken!! Just because a mod does not like the thread does not mean it should be closed!

Hi Funk...It turned into a discussion on nonUK sources which we can't talk about at all that's why Nic closed the thread. I too would like to discuss sources but we just can't. Sorry mate

Having re-read the thread, the subject was going back to the age old discussion of why we have the non-uk retailer ban. This is the only rule on this forum which is not open for discussion. Re-read monkeys long post and then consider my position.

This is the rule, and again, it's not open for discussion - if you or others continue down this road on this thread, we'll simply close it. As was correctly done before by a sensible mod.

And try to keep an eye on the UKCF code of conduct thread

I too would like to!!! But. It's my ass on the line, however unlikely etc it is that we'd get in trouble. And I don't want to risk it, sorry.

Well that's totally legal and what quite a few of us do, makes for a great weekend away too!

We should organise a en-masse trip to Gib...

Fair comment Deano , however, i think Smokin_e knows the rules and would not have breached them (particularly as he was reminded them) to just close an interesting thread to me seems a bit harsh and totalitarian just because it was 'teetering' on the edge!

...and if you were remaining in the EU you can bring bring many more than 50 cigars back Joao!

I don't really know what to say to the thread closure ; seemed heavy handed to me..As everyone says we all know the rules...but I personally was not interested in all the tax-evasion nonsense that the mods, some more than others, seem to be totally paranoid about..they discussed it more than we did & all I wanted to know was who was the supplier so we didn't get ripped off.....that is not illegal & not outside the forum rules which ever way you look at it...a lot of threads recently have been ruined lately by chronic over moderating to the point where only the mods are participating...
Oh! and has anybody from the mods bollocked TJ yet over his crasse remark to a member looking for cigars for a funeral / wake...
No..I didn't think so! Do the members a favour Deano get the mods to moderate..not dictate....

I don't live in the UK and also i don't like to name retailers or suppliers as it just creates problems. A thread that was intended more towards what others would do in my situation, become something different, so i'm happy the thread was closed....thanks

If I had known that your response berating me on the other thread was sincere, I would have responded earlier. But for the record, I was not aware that young Benjy was preparing to celebrate his Grandfather's life when I posted my response to his original question (Click Here !). I only learned about his passing after reading your above post. My intent at the time of my respose, as it almost always is, was to bring some levity to this place; something, in my opinion, that has been sorely lacking around these parts for some time.

Perhaps a PM advising me of my faux pas would have been a better way to go, amigo.

So, senor Benjy, if you were hurt by my comment on the other thread, I apologize and I will remove the post.

Heh only two threads have been closed in last month and one was a bunch of old members coming on for a slag and the other one was very much a discussion on why we weren't allowed to discuss non-Uk suppliers. I don't see any of this as heavy handed.

Again, a tip to tj in a pm, and a pm regarding the supplier would've sorted all this out before it got to this point!

                        Relax!
