Anyone had a look at the number of members who have been on the forum today, sitting at 1000+, are we under attack by some computer bug or have we got a lot of new members all of a sudden?

PS I know nothing about computers.

Buggered if I know Mucca, wouldn't know where to look...
but if we have a thousand visiting the forum today my question would be "what's happened to active participation"...feel like I'm back in the desert with just a camel to talk to....

A lot of so-called "bots" are trying to register. Something that's been happening quite frequently lately. No reason for alarm, however... or so I'm told!

Scotty has got it right ! Doesn't matter how many members the Forum has, it's contributors that really count. That's the problem with many sites - thousands of registered members but only a handful of bods who express views and opinions !

That's the same question I had a few days ago. I was told they try to join the forum to post spam and advertisements.

"bots" are not people, they are robots, eg small pieces of software designed to post spam everywhere…

I know they are not real people, I just wondered why so many were trying to get in here, not much for them to find out, software only does what its programmed to do by a human at some point.

(sigh) I believe these so-called "bots" are invading all forums, not just ours, to let us know where we can buy our Nikes and calogne at LOW, LOW PRICES!!!

No doubt they find a few suckers after millions and millions of spams!
