  • The 'Humour-dor' @ JJ Fox

    Hi guys,

I had a meeting with Ryan at JJ Fox yesterday about putting on a 'cigars and comedy' at the store. I'm pleased to say that he was very keen, and I'm hoping it will be a huge success - stand-up comedy should be watched through a thick haze of cigar smoke (many friends agree, I hope you guys do too).

Anyway, as with all of these evening events at JJF, the tickets will include absolutely everything - cigars, the entertainment, the drinks (oh, the drinks!)

What I would like to do though (cleared with Deano) is find out what cigars people might like to see included as part of the deal. Can't promise anything, but would be great to get an idea of what people would be interested to have included.

(Dates tbc, by the way - don't worry, I'll let everyone know when they're set in stone).

Ohhh this sounds interesting. Have no idea of what I'd want to smoke, but nothing to heavy without food (i.e. Bolivar) and I'd prefer Cubans, as NCs are similarly priced...

Perhaps a HdM Churchill? Need a cigar that will last as long as the comedy.

          Great idea, I'm in....

Cigar wise - love a Churchill sized cigar but also depends on how long the show lasts..

Great idea! Nothing too young please. Plenty of foxes boxes with a few years on them.

Thanks for the feedback and the support guys. I'd love for it to go well, and maybe make it a quarterly event.

We'll have a two hour slot (6.30-8.30), so was thinking something along the larger lines - perhaps a No2 of some description (Upmann?). But I do like the HdM Churchill thoughts too - and that was the idea of the thread, find out what people thought.

Quick additional query... One bigger, great cigar; or two which are smaller, and perhaps not quite so great (but still good, obviously). I want to try and get a happy balance, but the main thing is not to push the ticket price up too much.

Perhaps have a choice; either one large cigar or two smaller cigars... Keep the total price about the same.

                        lol @ pete

If we were going for one cigar, then a HdM Churchill would be fine, otherwise a couple of smaller sticks - a #2 of something and something smaller like a Corona/Corona Gorda?

Hey, they give the guantanamera away in the Tropicana, Havana, so it's good enough over there, why not Londinium? I know I might have set myself up for "yeah, give them away.." but when my wife and I visted, I tucked one away and it was

Sounds like a really good idea Simon! Will defo support this if the date works well... I'd say opt for a bigger stick, No.2, Churchill, DC to last the bulk o the event but equally important would be to find a box with enough age.
