Just wondering where you heard or read that UK importers get the 'best quality Cuban cigars in the world' if, as you say, you don't know who the importers are?

However, the UK importers should not keep spreading the myth that they get the best quality Cuban cigars in the world thus implying that cigars bought anywhere else are inferior, which is utter rubbish. I can assure you that I have had one or two dud UK imported cigars before, but at least they were smokable, unlike this horror.

I have heard this phrase time and time again from UK vendors and others. You really don't have to know where they are to have heard this phrase. I know who the importers are, Frankau's, I wasn't sure where they were located in the UK. I buy my Cuban cigars from UK vendors, not from the importers of Cuban cigars. I would have thought that was obvious.

          So why phone them?

Phone or walk in to the retailer, I imagine they'll happily replace it.

I have been in touch with the retailer and sent photos as above. They have not responded. As I am in Berkshire and they are in London, walking in is not an option.

Give them a call, you know how older retailers are with email - terrible! Send them to this thread too.

Deano, I am dealing with it now, should have a result soon. I have been dealing with this retailer for over thirty years, but recently lots of changes have taken place there. I think I will change over to Mitchell's lot in Mayfair.

Blimey GFK1...you've been smoking cigars since the mid-80's & acting like this is the first poor burning cigar you've had..surely after 30 + years you're no longer surprised by a poor quality cigar.
As for what you paid for it..that's nobodies fault but your own ..you must have had an inkling that over ?14 for a PE was the vendor taking the piss..what did he do..hold a gun to your head?..
The forum's a good place to have a vent though! Carry on old chap!

I have been using this outlet for over thirty years without any real problems. Lately the quality has been variable and the service haphazard. Expect see me in your Mayfair outlet soon.

I am surprised and disappointed, especially in view of who the vendor is. I never had PE before, it was bought on the recommendation of the vendor, as I normally smoke Cohibas. I have had the odd plugged cigar, and also one or two tight ones, and a few which were too loose, but nothing like this. I wasn't complaining about the price of the cigar, only the quality, so I don't know what you are going on about.

Sorry to come to this late but I have to say I am extremely surprised that you haven't had a replacement.

Through the Cigar Guide I know all of the London cigar stores and I know that they are very proud to sell excellent cigars, ALL of them. I would expect them to exchange the cigar for you as a matter of course, they are all very proud of the customer service ethos.

If you haven't got a response and if you still have PM drop me a line I am very happy to help and I know all of the store managers and the majority of the staff.
                          Nic

"I just smoked this Montecristo Petit Edmundo Tubos, bought a week ago from a well know London Cigar Merchant, cost me almost ?20."

If price wasn't part of your complaint..why on earth mention it in your opening line if it wasn't part of the issue...
Just replying to what I'd read...
