Had an afternoon at a pals house party and as there were a few people who appreciate a cigar but we'd get moaned at if we spent too long outside so I took up a tin of Rocky Patel 1990 juniors...they went down a treat, little harsh for the first 1/4 but turned into a great smooth smoke with plenty of creamy smoke...held ash well and more importantly my amigos thoroughly enjoyed the joys of the leaf :-)

Yesterday I caught up with Dan, of this parish, at the Turmeus in Chester. I would say it was a half way meeting point, but it was 50 minutes for him and three hours for me (15 hours on the return leg... missed a connection and got stuck in Birmingham!!!)

We both had a Por Larranaga Regalias de Londres. For me, I was somewhat disappointed, it didn't seem to live up to a lot of the hype. The burn was all over the place and the ash was awful. The flavours had some depth, but never really distinguished themselves, and beyond the first 15 minutes there was little development save for the last five. I'm sure Dan won't mind me passing on his own thoughts, I feel I should to level the playing field somewhat... He definitely found it to be a good smoke.

Then we popped over to the pub and smoked a custom roll that Dan had picked up in Edinburgh. Jolly nice it was too. We were then joined by some local ladies (who were rather perplexed to see cigars and hear talk of shooting and wine out the back of their pub...) One attempted to impersonate me, and sounded like a cross between Princess Anne and Lloyd Grossman... Certainly had me in stitches. This would explain how I missed my train and ended up stuck in Birmingham...
