Ridiculous that Steve should be responsible for what other people say on other forums.

Moderating is tricky but moderators are not the parents.

We try really hard on ukcf to let discussions run and I thought it was a strong but interesting discussion. Nino is a big boy and can hold his own. To take it out on Steve is just petty. Worse than that he is just living up to some of the accusations that were leveled.

Having read the threads on CA and FOH I was surprised by the level of aggression, conduct and language used but again absolutly nothing to do with Steve. Very hard to have any respect for Nino's position. What's the point of dedicating years on such a project just to taint it with such behaviour.

If one works in the public arena and courts an audience, one simply cannot attempt to answer all opinions that will enivatibly follow. There is a world of people out there and for sure a lot will not agree with you but so what. To try to argue it all can only end in disappointment.

I expect some people to be idiots online, and some to raise above it. For sure many will look back at this episode with regret of their conduct ...but not Steve.

Frankly I am astonished at the schoolboy slap - slap that the book threads have generated, the fact this situation has arisen over multiple forums leaves people with no clear way to know where and how this kicked off or who is right and wrong. The only way to deal with this is walk away and distance oneself from the tainted subject.

Wait for the book to be released an then decide if it lives up to the hype.

Stevie, I am shocked at the response you received on a genuine enquiry to buying the publication, I know you were very serious on getting one.

At the end of the day as cigar aficionados, collectors, fanatics etc all that matters is the cigars you smoke, you enjoy.

It's all really rather sad, a lot of guys have been dragged into these threads by the rude insulting behaviour of forum trolls who have no agenda other than stir the pot for everyone.
I've tried to always read all the threads to get a balanced outlook on the topic & like most on here do have an opinion.
Having read this latest debacle across 4 forums & Nino's blog it was immediately apparent that this was going to be a continuance of the previous update announcement by the same person..Nino.

Now everybody has appreciated a lot of his earlier blogs & he was a popular character.. 'was' I said & 'character'.
MRN was always an inquisitive forum member across several boards which with the help of many others allowed for the publication of the first Enc.
At the time it was the best written references in the cigar world & probably is now.

Those success's in my opinion led to distinct changes is both men & the consequences are being seen now.
Nino has become so sycophantic towards MRN at a level that, quite frankly, makes me squirm in embarrassment for him.
MRN has turned from a man on a mission to a man that no longer respect's anyone's opinion other than his own..

The Encyclopedia will probably be bloody marvelous, a brilliant piece of work; a better day's work than when he accepted Nino as his voice to us, the mere cigar lovers, only time will tell.
That's that, but I truly hate the lack of respect both Nino & MRN have shown to others, that has caused more damage to our cigar fraternity than any book will ever put right.

everything that was done was done with what they saw just (at least i hope so! ). but i'm sure ol' Scotty (or is the correct term scotsman? we'll never know! ) didn't mean here. Rather on other boards like CigAf or FoH. international forums that would draw people signing up just to cause ruckus. or people who can easily say whatever the hell they want because they are (like PuffDaddy mentioned) hidden behind the veil of the computer screen.

hard to see people doing it here. mostly because that veil is faint due to the cohesive bond we all built. that's why i like it around here

I'm sorry if some of the things I've said have caused problems for Stevieboy, it was never an intention, and why Steve should be singled out and punished for anything I've said is both erroneous and unfair. But then again attention and fairness aren't big Nino strongpoints.

Athome and Tippexx are one and the same. (Athome only exists because I mucked-up my FOH registration). I said all the things that Nino says I did .... and worse. However, everything I have posted will have been in context to prior postings within various Forum threads.

Nino in his preamble has pulled bits from here, there and everywhere in some sort of vindictive and pyrrhic 'poor me, tippexx is a bastard' attempt to justify his own bad behaviour.

My writing style is probably lost on Nino, it's often colourful and attempts to use humour to get points across quickly and in the least amount of words possible. I do not make personal attacks, I do not delete posts or cause them to be deleted and I do not lie.

As far as RMNs book is concerned, I HAVE criticised what I have seen so far, which is the bench thing some pdf Test Sheets and some images from Nino's Blog. I have also questioned the proposed price for the book and which I think is out of all proportion to the subject. At no point have I criticised RMNs dedication to the project or his scholarship and have several times made the point of hoping the Test Sheets are just that and share no comparison with the final book.

The Nazi smear arose on FOH, we were discussing the use of the word 'masterpiece' and that great artists generally needed to work for a living. Someone countered my proposition with a Beethoven quote on the pursuance of a self perceived destiny, I replied that someone else had said something somewhat similar not realising that to mention Adolf Hitler was a faux pas on FOH, but this was seized upon as evidence of Nazi and racialist views even though in an earlier post I had been accused of being a Socialist.

If Nino can be afforded any credit for anything it's that he has been trying to defend a friend. But jackbooting around Forums in Corporal FliegenSchei?e mode is not the way to go about it, and nor is deleting and manipulating his Blog posts in a snide attempt to belittle a newbee for having the temerity to ask an innocent but awkward question and for then having the balls to stand up for themselves when on the receiving end of Nino's evasive and abusive answers.

I hope MRNs book is all Nino cracks it up to be and it will be MRNs Glory. He has missed an opportunity though, a good quality low cost version would have been more than a glory, it would have been a Legacy and in-print for as long as there are BOTL.

I hope MRN reads this, and if he is fair minded, agree that Steve is an innocent party in all that has transpired and deserves to be allowed to purchase the book as he's requested.
