  • Having a beer day.

    Hey guys
well since my gardening plans got washed out today I popped off to tescos and picked up a few ales. Picked up a wells brew called 'sticky toffee pudding' wasn't expecting great things but was pleasantly surprised. A real toffee flavour and a nice sweetness on the end. This got me thinking as to what stick would match with it, any recommendations

Their banana bread beer is a nice novelty one too. I struggle to match sticks to novelty beers like this though, the cloying sweetness doesn't really lend itself that well to many partnerships as far as cigars are concerned.

Agreed, though if I was choosing it would be something powerful to offset the sweetness.

I tend to stick to the following rule:

        Strong cigar = light drink
        Light cigar = strong drink

By light and strong I am referring to flavour by the way. Seems to work pretty well

If you can get any of Leatherbritches brewery's beer that's worth trying, Scary Hairy export is one of the nicest IPA's I've ever had.

I was thinking a stick with a good level of bitterness and punch would balance out the sweetness and vice versa.
