  • Trip to Tenerife booked. Need Cigar Help!!

    Evening gents.

So I've booked a little trip to Tenerife with the missus for the end of July staying at the Gran Oasis Resort in Playa de las Americas. As always, I look to my trusty knowledge bank UKCF for advice on cigars. Any good cigar shops in the area anyone know of? How's the prices? What's the airport like? Can I buy cigars on arrival at the airport?

    Thanks in advance chaps

Went around the Canary Islands this year. Can't remember specifics, but you'll find the odd cigar shops selling Cubans and the like. They love to sell Spanish and Canary Island cigars more I think though. The tobacco they use for their own cigars is lovely...just very poor quality with rolling and storing imo

I'd avoid the airport because of price. You might as well buy the stuff from over here it's no where near as cheap as it could be.
And the smaller shops that look appealing just sell toot, junk and cigarettes. Nothing of any real quality from what I found.

There was a lovely cigar shop at the port in Fuerteventura. Hopefully Tenerife has one I never got to see. Look down the backstreets

I went last year and found nothing of note at all, the airport was crap. For a quick smoke keep an eye out for La Aurora Principes in packs of ten behind the counter, vanilla, chocolate and natural. They were surprisingly good and if you find them I'd love a box of the chocolate please!

I saw one shop that had some RyJs baking in the window so didn't even bother going in. I stayed in Los Gigantes so Las Americas being bigger and more commercial you might have more luck. Most of the Canarian cigars were sold off the shelf so the bargepole rule applies I feel.

Wow! That is worrying. Thanks for the heads up. Mental note taken not to shop from Goodwill SC.

Hah barge pole rule was created for such instances

Does Facebook require any validation of claims On such reports? Or can a disgruntled person effectively give bad reviews with relative impunity? Do companies get to respond to give a balanced view?
I only ask because I don't use Facebook so don't have a clue.

No one can write anything really, much the same with most online review sites too.

Yep Mo is right, on this occasion as it was timely I thought it pertinent to share with Ethem. Their losing his custom is better than him losing money.

I use Trip advisor and often companies reply to such complaints with often eye opening and logical reasons.

Oh I'm not questioning that, I was just generally interested.

I also use Tripadvisor all the time and have learned to look for a common thread amongst complaints and to ignore the random ones
