    Jefferson's small batch Bourbon - ?34.99 > ?24.99

El Dorado 15yo Rum - ?35.99 > ?30 (But I happen to know that they have been labeled wrong and they are going through the till at ?24.99.)

Not bad considering that both are proper brands rather than own brand (Not saying there's anything wrong with own brand.) and that both are well respected in the spirit community.

It will be my first time trying Jefferson's but whisky exchange are selling it for ?35.99 right now and El Dorado is an exceptional Rum that's won the world's best rum numerous times (and at least 4 years consecutive.) and it's being sold right now on master or malt for ?41.57

Get them quick though they will fly out I reckon.

I will be sampling it tonight, but it's good to know it gets the Robusto thumbs up!

We were shopping at the bigger Aldi in Derby and no luck. They have got dress boxes of Maynard's 20 year old tawny port though. Passing on anything until payday now, though.

I can vouch for the El Dorado - best rum I've ever tasted. Yum Yum.

Just opened the Jefferson's.... Wow, it's spicy with huge vanilla undertones. Literally live the smell, I would wear it as an aftershave. Lol

Fist taste (it's still settling and warming slightly.) spicy and complex, no so sweet as usual bourbons.... I'm really liking this and I think it's going to open up even better shortly.

And it really did open up, I was really rewarded for taking my time with this one! It's really a great Bourbon.

Now you have to try it in an Old Fashioned. For science, you understand.

How is it on the sourness front?

I wouldn't say it's sour either, more buttery. It's not savoury due to the vanilla but it's a little umami without being salty.

It's pretty well balanced and quite complex.

Sounds good! I'll be honest the only bourbon I've had is Jack Daniels and the sourness puts me off. If I get away early enough tonight I'll try and pop in

Oh god the bourbon purists will be hunting you down, because they use charcoal filtering it's not a bourbon.
