  • First box of Cohiba's

So I have decided it is time to finally get myself a box of the one and only brand! Due to their price I want to carefully choose which vitola I go with, what do you guys think about the best cohiba to buy? About half will be put away for aging and the other half I will smoke about one a month and see if they improve.

My preferences as of now are the robusto, siglo 2 and siglo 6 however the lancero, corona especiales and esplendidos are very attractive in their own way.

Very rare that Cohibas are nice young, but does happen occasionally. For me the Sig II's, IV's, VI's, Lanceros and CCE's are all box worthy.

Also worth looking out for El Laguito (Cohiba factory) box codes.

      Something like:
      2001 CLE
      2002 CLE
      2003 CLE
      2003 MKO
      2004 MKO
      2005 PFY
      2006 PLM
      2007 MEL PLM
      2008 MEL
      2009 LBT
      2010 TEU LBT
      2011 MES
      2012 BTO
      2013 BTO MUO LBT?
      2014 MUO

Young can only be the BHK IMO.

To age, I'd go Siglo VI.

Ageing, I'd revisit every 6 months to a year min.

IVs, VIs and Lanceros would be my choice. Never loved the robusto or the Esplendido

Very helpful - especially as it suggests that my Cohiba boxes are from El Laguito

Whatever you buy Habana Habanos I'm sure you'll be happy with the purchase

Absolutely everyone swears by the VI.. Just reading up confirms many fine botl here state the same, but they've never done much for me. Nice stick but wouldn't rush to buy. It's obviously just me or I've never had a decent one!

This is interesting didn't know there were multiple factories producing the cohibas?

All the different factories produce loads of different cigars like not all partagas are rolled at the partagas factory the only exception to this I believe is the behike

I love the iv my self, the ring gauge and length mean if you are looking to smoke a really good stick you do not need to put a hour and a half like you do with the vi saying that a good vi is a thing of beauty

I've smoked more Siglo VI cigars now than any other because I really enjoy them. For me they are pure Cuba compared with other Cuban cigars I've had. The difference between them and Montecristo is vast, for me, I think they are smooth with just the right strength and depth of flavour. In fact it is now on the list to review!

Almost but not quite. All Behike's are 'boxed' at El Laguito so all have El Laguito box codes, but oddly they are not all rolled there (although plenty are).

I believe this is the only exception and everything else with the El Laguito box code is always rolled there.
