Better cameras, a more secure finger print reader that won't accept the tip of my nose as my wife's fingerprint!

It'll probably continue the trend of nicking features that have been around for ages and claiming they're revolutionary...

Usual all flagship phone scam, I cant think of one feature in 3-4 years that I would consider revolutionary

You mean the blackberry keyboard that's been around since the "quark" which was what 12 years ago?

actually was referring to the homogenous keyboard system. one that was apparently so tactile and mouldable that I could type without looking at the screen.

so much so that Ryan Secrest decided to just up and 'make' one for himself

But it doesn't matter. any cellphone company that grows too large is bound to stagnate. they're not coming out with holographic projectors because that causes revolution. revolution causes spark for people to want more which companies cannot give. waterproofing and shockproofing phones means that people's phones don't break as easily. net loss for people who 1. buy new phones 2. repair phones 3. visit repair depots and buy accessories
The only way to revolutionise phones is to have smaller makers. this is why no phone that is waterproof or shockproof is a smart phone - because they are all made by companies that need to innovate to catch the small niche markets.
I personally believe that BlackBerry has fallen from grace which makes it graceful in itself. However, once and if it grows too big, it's bound to stagnate again. Currently it's in a weird limbo as government agencies sign up large contracts with BlackBerry due to their enterprise server (revolutionary software when it came out). Not sure where it'll end up now.

diamonds are unscratchable, too. But both are easily broken with enough force. with such a thin layer of sapphire, it doesn't matter how unscratchable it is. it will fracture like any other phone screen when dropped.
Next i believe that the companies can dope diamonds and say the screen is coated with unscratchable diamonds. That will piggyback on the popularity of 'diamonds' and them being forever. people always confuse hardness with toughness.

Butters the galaxy s5 is a waterproof smart phone. Add in an otterbox case and you have a decent degree of shockproof to boot.

TJ in the UK most people trade in their old phone to offset the cost then the remainder is incorporated into the contract over two years. No one buys a new phone outright

The sim only deal is getting very popular in the UK, there are 4 mobiles in our house that are on sim only deals.

I've gone for a spigen case as there are lots of poor reviews for the otterbox s5 case. I'm very impressed with it.

Butters, I've always hated blackberry. One of the worst phones to investigate on. Great for crims though!

I did not know that... just took it to a google and yupp! it isn't certified for depths but it's useable in the rain - which is sufficient enough for all intents and purposes.

it's not that... it's just the concept of innovation or lack there of. of cellphone companies in general.

It is much cheaper to buy the phone outright and then buy a contract. Most people are just too lazy to do the maths and are used to buying what they can't afford on credit. I picked my iPhone 5s up last Black Friday and used a corporate discount to get a cheap 12 month 3G contract. Even if I'd had to pay full price for the contract it was still much cheaper doing it this way, and it also doesn't tie me into a two year contract.

The great thing with owning Apple products though is that they hold their value so well; even after a couple of years.
