Going a bit comercial aren't we mates! Not sure I want all my posts and others I've see around these parts, with all its raw, colorful language and banter up on the widely-viewed Twitter.

What's the thinking behind this move?

People have to subscribe to our Twitter, and it would only be us lot subscribing to it anyway. It's just another way to be alerted to new threads.

It only posts the thread title.

If people don't want it, I can get rid, but it's hardly any different to what have in place anyway.

If it's restriced to UKCF member only, then I see no problem.

I have to admit I joined Twitter but then unsubscribed because I didn't quite get it. It's like life by one-liners, yes?

If I could use it just with buds off the Forum, I might be tempted again because I like a good throwaway line.

I get a bit fed up with all the feeds on Facebook because even though you can turn them on and off, they are very random and a bit irritating. It's natural. I know mine will be to other people on there.

So IF I can do Twitter just between us - and not between every Tom, Dick and Harrry - then I might play.

Incidentally those of you who have seen the Facebook thing about Kent Teachers Ordered To Close Facebook Accounts may have seen that I do not want any of my pupils connecting with me on there. What I can't say is that the worst thing I did with Facebook was to accept a colleague's invitation to become a Friend. With two or three, we are real friends. With the others, it's not so easy and tends to be work moans and gossip that you have in your face.

Allowing colleagues rather than just friends from work in to Facebook has, in my experience, been a grave mistake, and my wife has the same regret from her job, too. I know I can ex-Friend them, but it would be bleedin obvious in a medium-sized establishment.

So...

If you tell me, Deano, that Twitter can be ring-fenced for one-liner cigar porn and tickles between us forum folk - done in posts of a gay sentence or two - I'll press YES.

Up, off and out

I signed up, signed in and there seems to be too much associated sh!te for me on this one. People 'following' you and you 'following' them (a dozen or so porn links for starters). In the few minutes I was there, I felt tw&tted, never mind twitted. I deleted my account too.

Plus, the world wideness of the posts felt a little bit freaky. I know anyone can cruise through here anyhow, but at this stage, like Bryan, unless it can be tailored to the BOTLs and SOTLs, I don't think I'll indulge. It's hard enough censoring myself with vocation in mind as it is. If I was twittering, I'd make a tw&t of myself for sure.

However, I'm not going to dictate as to whether we need it or not as some may find it useful.

It was only really for the people on the forum who already used Twitter. I wouldn't bother otherwise. I'm no fan tbh, I really don't see the attraction.
