    Ignore my comment (edit)
Couple of grams diff really is nothing.
Whether it be more filling, or heavier/thicker leaves within the roll.

i'd of thought it'd affect the draw and flavour profile somewhat

If it does - I think it would go undetected, IMO.

Although I know nothing at all about it, a variation of about 30% seems quite large. Would it take about 30% longer to smoke the larger Montecristo?

Weight is a good way to pick up an underfilled or overfilled stick, not used scales before but just one of those things you pick up over time in hand

this got me interested in it. It adds another aspect to the hobby for me.

              http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/official-weights.aspx

"While there is a schedule of cigar weights issued by HSA, the weight of a cigar cannot be used to test authenticity. Individual weights vary enormously due to hand roll variation and (to a lesser extent) their moisture content."

Moisture, amount of tobacco used …these will affect i) weight and ii) burn rate.

You could get an over filled cigar, over humidified, burn slow.
You could get an overfilled dry cigar burn steadily.
A dry under filled cigar would burn the quickest.

Too many factors involved I think to determine any noticeability…
But hey - I'm no scientist

This is one for TJ or Bagman…..
…where are they when you need em!?!
