  • Boveda to bring my RH down

The RH in my 7 Drawer humi has risen and is stabilising at 73% to 74%. My house is about that humidity at the minute so I am struggling to bring it down. I can't just leave the door of my cabinet open and let it dry out a bit. I need something inside it to absorb some of the moisture. I have currently removed all my humidification devices (acro polymer crystals) and still it is sitting this high.

I've not tried these Boveda pouches yet but from what I have read on here over the past few weeks, these are the way I need to go.

Are the 69% pouches going to be effective enough to bring down the RH from where it is now?

Which size pouches should I get?

    And finally how many?

I have read about re-charging these pouches so I believe I am going to want to cycle them so I shall be ordering twice the amount I should have in my Humi at any one time.

I have no room to place them vertically at the back on the box as the drawers butt firmly against the back panel. I think I'm just going to have to lay them in the drawers on top of my cigars which also from what I have read, shouldnt be a problem.... (just not as asthetically pleasing to the eye!)

The humidity in your humidor isn't fatal and will I suspect drop naturally. Are you sure that the reading is accurate?

If you want to pull it down a bit, fill a small dish with dry rice .... a day or two in the humi and the rice will absorb the moisture. Please don't curried or anything flavoured.

Bovida packs work fine, but for a 7 drawer I think Heartfelt tubes might be better.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

You could try an unscented small space dehumidifier bag of the sort designed for wardrobes

Yeah I know it shouldn't be a HUGE issue being that high for a while but I'm a perfectionist!

Im using a salt test calibrated Xikar hygrometer which I used in my desktop and it always sat at 69%, no matter what the outside RH was. I was also using the Cigar Oasis Ultra electric humidifier jobby in that Humi but it's not really suitable for the new cabinet type I have now.

I have moved the hygrometer into different locations inside the Humi over a few days and It's a consistant 73/74% everywhere.

Like I said, I now have no humidification in there at all so what ever I do use need to be 2 way. Whats the deal with Heartfelt?

They're expensive. For your problem get some silicon kitty litter and put it some old tights or even open dishes and use that to soak up the excess moisture. Keep the door shut, you're trying to get it lower than the ambient humidity

In your position i'd go for the boveda pouches put one in each draw even laying them on the cigars won't effect them
which humidity you prefer on the pouches is personal.
One more thing to bear in mind too is the climate at the moment is very very humid which plays a part even though the humidor is in doors
tobacconist have the same problem this time of year trying to keep humidity down in their walk in humidors.

thats a very good price considering the amount you get- good find.

I got this stuff, recommended from Sean- works a treat, in my cube humi which was fluctuating with the just the bovedas.

SilentBob is quiet no more, name change to VocalBob?

I'm just an Amazon junky and this doesn't have blue bits. I've got a small bag of Sean's too but its not enough for what I need.

Perhaps you should trim your toenails!

I honestly think you would be better with Boveda packs in there, they suck and blow so unless they are full to the limit of their capacity they should help suck some moisture out. It's a new humi, you will get it sorted. Mine has gone from 69 solid to 71, in ok with that change but like you, I wouldn't want it to be higher. Got any dry Boveda?
