Oskihen those two who skies are two of my favourites so far. I've only been at the whisky a short while but if you like those sweet Speysides have you tried the singleton I had last night? It's very nice.

Thank you. I'm actually looking for a birthday or birthday and Christmas whisky gift to myself. I had thought maybe this:

          Or this:

But I don't know. I know I'm leaning towards Speysides but I do like a smokey taste too. I was initially put off peat by the Lagavulin 16 which is very strongly peated. I've since had some softly peated whisky which I got on better with. In an ideal world is have a whisky in the speyside style but with a smokiness without a peaty taste.

And that Nikka was on the list. Tesco do a few Japanese who skies too, I thought I'd try one of those for the sake of ease.

I'm not a huge speyside fan but maybe try the Highland Park 18yo (though I'm biased)

Yea Highland Park and Scapa are both 5mins away from me.

I tend to prefer the islay malts but have a few bourbon/whiskeys I like Blantons, Eagle rare, old rip.

That Japanese is good, it's a blend (not that that's a bad thing). Probably fits your preference for speyside quite well

I'm definitely going to try it. I've just tried Talisker last night and the peat is far less pronounced that in the Lagavulin. I'm coming round to peat.

It took me a while to come round to the smokey peaty ones as well but I'd probably say they are my favourites now
