I have a Montechristo Petit Edmundo and a RJ No1 which are both Tubed.

I have had these for over a year now just in a drawer in my man cave without any humification.

The question is can these be brought back to a decent smokable state. I was thinking a sealed Tupperware container with a 84% Boveda pack to start and then some regular packs.

Would this work or am I wasting my time. Shame to bin them.

If they're tubed they should be OK.

Chances are they're not going to be too bad. If you think they are too dry, Do not put them in with an 84% pouch! That will be too much too soon and they will likely swell and split. Go in easy with a lower RH and bring them up to 68 - 70 nice and slowly over a matter of weeks.

Yeah, we had a member smoke one after a couple decades (from memory) and it was in good condition.

I woulden't use such high humidity your likely to split the cigars if you do that, instead use the lowest humidity pouch first and gradualy work your way up very slowly thats the way i'd do it myself.

I'd say they're still good to go unless the tops have been left off or loose. Tbh, what do they feel and smell like?

Ahem...thanks for the blast from the past master wigans! And all you youngsters out there take note how don TJ DID NOT take credit for the post or pretend to be the author, but instead, quoted AND LINKED the original source.

Now, regarding that old tubed puro you asked about se?or benfour....not sure I'm in agreement with most. It's my understanding that the tubes were never intended to be a substitute for a fine unit (aka, humidor), and more of a marketing/packing event. And based on my experience, they are not air-tight.

But Hey! You be the judge, muchacho. Take it out and give a good squeeze or roll-about on your fingers and see what happens. If its hard and cracks, CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY... or try one of the techniques described in don TJ's fabulous and informative post, may he rest in peace.

Haha! You're talking about a puro, right dawg face?
