Aye.... I saw it. It's apparently legit. There are a lot of people that speak up for him doing it well too. But it was the most unusual TV.... Like chewing gum on your trousers, once stuck hard to get away....

I guess Hollywood corrupts- can't think of an action based movie type figure that isn't indestructible in their movies, or hasn't been on the right hand end of philandering. And certainly Seagal has gotten a bit weird to say the least....But you know I'm ok with the hero being indestructible.... I always chuckled at Van Damme movies as they are all the same plot line; happy times meet with a tragedy, hard times ensue. Struggle followed by valiant attempt to beat the bad guy, JCVD then beaten almost to a pulp, he gives out a cry, staggers around bow legged with one fist out in front, one arm clasped across his front.... Then a miraculous inner spirit fixes broken limbs and sinews to deliver a spectacular in flight roundhouse. Bad guys jaw slackens in slow-mo, heroic embrace of female interest, pat a small child on the head, wistful moment thinking how mother/brother/fallen comrade/former lover would be proud. End!!

How ever the Asian Connection remains a dog...

Absolutely fantastic film. I would put it up there with the likes of Platoon, Taegukgi, Private Ryan and Deerhunter.
I thought that it was very good, also.

          • Watched SULLY the other night. To think that he went through this litigation for 2yrs before being cleared. Seems the airline wanted to blame the man not the machine to help with payouts etc.
As always Tom Hanks performed very well. I never tire of watching him, Only the week before I watched him in Capt Phillips. Another great performance

            • Day off today so this morning it was 'Morgan', which is a scifi movie about an android, it was quite predictable and not a patch on 'Ex Machina', saw the twist from miles away

              IMG_0821.jpg

Then this afternoon I watched 'The Accountant' which was an excellent action thriller with Ben Afleck and Anna Kendrick whom I find strangely attractive

I saw LaLaLand & really enjoyed it but I can't believe I missed Rouge One. Fortunately there's a local independent cinema which gets everything months after the nationals.

                      • Endured Suicide Squad last night.
Having read plenty of reviews which pretty much gave it a good beating, I decided to watch it with an open mind.
Apart from getting a semi on every time Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) walked across the screen, I thought there was just
too many individual stories to get across in a short space of time. It did nor work for me. Overall, shite.

Have you see 13 Assassins? Much more recent samurai flick, but your classic revenge/return of honour/Ronin are bad news for evil feudal overlords plan, leads to a recruitment drive, leads to a showdown flick. I don't think that's a spoiler particularly. Speaking of Ronin, its way way better than that Charlie Foxtrot that had Keanu Reeves in it.
Love the 13 assassins, definitely worth a view. Living with a Korean guy for a few years I have seen some fantastic Korean films, not sure if anyone is interested in subs though?

Couldn't agree more, saw the reviews and knew it would be bad. It was terrible, some eye candy as you say but a ridiculous plot that isn't engaging and doesn't leave time to engage with each character either.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

                          • Today i watched Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. If you like Tina Fey, watch it. If you dont like Tina Fet give it a go. Its worth a watch.

One of the best lines is 'this bag is military approved! Where you gonna hide? A sunset??'

its a comedy, but its got heart and substance.

I quite liked it. A friend of mine did similar work at a similar time in Kabul, and apparently it's broadly an accurate portrayal, though my friend absolutely insists it's "blurry".

I've seen the odd Korean Flick, it seems to be a genre/film industry on the rise.

Suicide Squad was a mess (Harley Quinn excepted); the following week I watched Deadpool, and it was so much better, actually funny and properly violent (no pandering to the PG13 committee)
