  • I very much agree with the above. Che was enjoyable, and BdT made it for me

+1 He really seemed to "get" the role.

      • Over the weekend I watched Horns (odd, funny, pretty good); and Still Alice (a truly great film about a sombre subject, treated with humanity).

        • This afternoon whilst enjoying my Oliva I watched 'The Great Wall' with Matt Damon. It surprised me, this was a great adventure yarn with superb special effects, I wasn't bored for a minute.

            • I watched The Insider from 1999 with Pacino & Crow recently. Somehow missed it 1st time round. Great film which I recommend. Best line: 'We're in the nicotine delivery business'

              • I watched Alien: Covenant this afternoon which is the sequel to Prometheus. I thought it was all very predictable right down to the final twist, Prometheus was way better.

Agreed. I thought it was unfair to infect the first victims with microscopic dust. Bit hard to fight microscopic dust. Other than that it was the same old catalog of errors of judgment leading to a disaster on a grand scale. Did like the cinematography.

I watched this last night and enjoyed it but I agree the final twist was predictable

                    • With a recent addition of netflix i not long fell into watching Expendables 3 and Mechanic 2... both mindless visual wallpaper with lots of bullets flying. Nothing more to them. if you've seen 1 or 2 of either, you've seen these!!

                      • Watched Girl with a dragon tatoo this evening - the version with Daniel Craig. Generally a good film I thought but as is often the case not as good as the book.

                        • I watched Brawl in Cell Block 99 yesterday. It's the new film from the guy who directed the excellent Bone Tomahawk. The film is a bit long and the script is a little over the top in the last part but if you like violence in movies this is for you. This film has some of the most brutal fight scenes that I have seen in years (in an American film). This one is definitely not for the squeamish. And Vince Vaughn is pretty convincing in a serious role. The director's next film will be a Cop film with Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn, I'm really looking forward to it.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed that film. Don't bother with the sequel though!

Well worth your time if you can handle subtitles.

Yeah, wasn't to bad for a Dante Lam, although my favorite film of his is still Beast Cops. Anthony Wong rocks in that fight where he has that broken neon tube sticking out of his shoulder.

I find that all the recent HK productions lack the ruthlessness of the 80's and 90's ones.
