  • Just watched 'The Suicide Squad' and it was nowhere as good as the original. The storyline borrows heavily from 'The Expendables' and oddly enough Stallone is in it as well albeit heavily disguised. The big bad is just a joke and Harley Quinn just isn't utilised enough. It was just about worth the rental but don't buy it.

Wait worse than the original? Now that’s a feat!

      • The Ice road, typical Liam Neeson fodder, not bad but not great.

        • Watched House of Gucci, it was okay, ignoring some truly awful accents and a very jarring score left a camp cheesy version of history. Wouldn’t advise anyone to go out of their way to watch though

For me it was a good excuse to get out of the house and admire some if the lovely outfits that Gucci were famous for. Other than that, I can't see any rewatch value in it.

            • I have recently enjoyed watching Joaquin Phoenix in Joker on TV and also in the new black and white film C’mon C’mon at the cinema.

It's on my to-do list. I'll probably watch it over Christmas

I’m a massive JS and Ritchie fan, but this didn’t do it for me. I think the problem was American accents trying to pull off Ritchie dialogue - just failed miserably for me. They don’t get the dry banter right

                          • Saw House of Gucci, not bad as entertainment & West Side Story 2001. Old enough to remember the original it from the TV (no the screen!) so not bad as modern remakes go, at least they did their own singing, most of the original was dubbed for the singing parts. Both OK if you're being dragged along by the ladies in your life.

Think the original WS Story is on TV this week, I saw Grease for the first time yesterday and it was a bit silly but the songs were good, Olivia's voice is strong but her acting was a bit off, tho she did look very youthful for a 29 year old.

                              • Have watched a few films over Christmas, but the one for me which is an excellent satirical reflection on our current life predicament is the excellent funny, disturbing and sad - Don’t Look Up - a brilliant cast throughout; the film gives reality a run for its money
