  • Cutting

Here comes another stupid question but where do I cut the cigar? I'm under the assumption it's where the cap starts to level out into the shaft of the cigar? Or is it just before? Just after?

Cut it just below the shoulder where it starts to straighten out or you risk it unravelling.

IMO as little as possible to leave you with a good draw. If your cigar is left with no taper after you cut them I believe you have cut too much.

He's right! You'll see an American guy who's reviews seem to be popular on Youtube who cuts his cigars square, how they don't fall apart I don't know. Of course if you punch it then the issue is negated.

Ahem...I've noticed that a lot of yanks seem to prefer to cut tapered-tipped sticks at an angle to give more surface area without cutting to much of the cap. Usually a 30 to 40% angle seems to work.

But as the "ever present" se?or Peesinhisjays eluded, use a punch whenever possible.

Can of worms like most subjects on here.

Got told the following and will see what you guys think of it.

Place the cutter flat on the table. Stand the cigar inside your cutter and cut that way. Should give the perfect amount of cut. Opinions?

I could never get bored of reading your posts lol. You seem to make the most boring post seem interesting with all your little picture things.

Sounds good to me, you can get a cutter that works like that but its not so effective if the cap is less flattened where you may not cut enough.

With my Xikar and a Robusto that gives an almost perfect cut every time. Not little sticks though.

Going to go with it being madness purely because its yanks doing it so it must be wrong.

Smoked at a couple of them cut at an angle but there was nothing intentional about it lol

Haha! Nice tip, chico...(referring to your information, not that other little thing you carry around).

This is a little known trick that works fine, as long as you own a table or have access to a flat surface...like the top of chico butterednutz head!
