RH is affected by temperature so allow the temp to stabilise for a few hours.

Have you seasoned your humidor? Also, now you've done the salt test, what's your understanding as to what that's achieved. I don't want the latter query to appear either condescending or aloof, but there's been some gaps in the conversations/thread, so just checking in that you're cool with what your doing.

I'm assuming the salt combined with the water should produce 75% humidity and doing that test will check to see if the hygrometer is reading the correct humidity level or if it needs calibrating..

Yes, that's right. There should be a button on your hygrometer to calibrate it. Press the calibrate button when the humidity level has settled. Be mindful that if you have pressed the cal button when the humidity is not at 75%, (perhaps in the dry air of your living room) it will not read 75% with the salt test. This doesn't matter so long as the RH is stable in the salt test tub when you press the button. In short, pressing the button resets the hygro to 75%.
Further more, the salt need only be wetted, not a solution.

This all sounds very complicated. Just buy some Boveda at the right humidity, fit and forget. Oh and buy some decent Cigars

Well I bought some cigars today and he had a boveda pack in there 69% so I've put that in instead of the other thing (distilled water cap).
