  • Hardcore me Simon.
I fish all winter under a brolly.
I do have a really good bivvy but I find it makes me lazy. It takes a lot more time and effort to put up and down.
If I find fish somewhere else, I can have the brolly down, rods in and ready to move within 20 minutes.
It takes a lot longer with the bivvy.
Post 32 on page 4 of this thread shows what I use.

That's certainly the way to catch fish , too many anglers have a home from home and are too reluctant to move and try and draw the fish to them

That is the Fox Supa Brolly. It is a great bit of kit. There are others on the market worth considering though.

Spot on oskihen. I like to be able to move if needed.
As it happens, the Koi I banked in that photo was caught after moving to the opposite end of the lake to where I started.
I set up on fish, but they moved during the night, so at first light I followed them. The Koi was the alarm call just before
            first light the following morning.

This helps to keep me mobile:

It is a nice little home while I am on the bank Si.
Sea fishing is something I have always fancied, but never really done other than a couple of guest sessions with others.
I do like my seafood too.

            • I'd love to catch a humungus cod off a boat. But just suffice to the pier. Mackerels pretty much guaranteed. It's Sea Bass that's the bonus from the marina pier/pier arm only caught sea bass once.

                        • That is a beast of a pike.

Just got back from my latest 24 hour session. Caught nothing.
It was bloody freezing during the night.

                          • Went out with my old man & brother on Monday, as it was the day after quitting my last job.

I've never fished before, surprised how relaxing it is. They go out on one of the local charters pretty regularly.

Had a 3-4lb codling within about three minutes of first starting, once the beginners luck was out of the way I only one other bite all day which got away.

Will definitely be going again (even if it's just fishing from the shore, there's some good spots around here apparently.) I'm not sure if it's something I could obsess over but was fun.

If nothing else it was one of the best fish suppers I've had...

Get some photos up next time you do it.

                              • Off again tomorrow, weather should be better but the boat will be full this time so not quite as much space but should be fun.
