• Cost of the hobby

Worked out that in 8 months I have spent 2k on cigars but only smoked about 1k.

Not counting storage, lighters, ashtrays, tweed smoking jackets etc.

For comparison in the same time I would have spent about 2k smoking cigs if I hadn't stopped.

Was wondering if you guys would be willing to share how much you lot spent if its not too personal a question?

thats a lot of money , its sometimes like that with a new thing i did it last year with digital cameras i was spending silly money on cameras, but after a while it calms down and you find what you need and like and spend less .

im hoping this will cost me ?20 per quarter max but itll probably goe silly to begin with

Potentially the same here Wigan, that includes humidors & humidification units etc.

I'm up there I'll have to have a bit of a tally , I tend to forget and move on as opposed to keeping accurate accounts of my 'hobby' outgoings.

I have nothing like an accurate record. May actually try going thru for a precise record. Will have to guesstimate the purchases from CASC. Thats at least a couple of hundred. Was working lots of overtime at the time and was far to easy to just call in on my way home. With it being a pub and open till early morning and felt like I deserved them

Thinking about it I don't think I want to know lol as opposed to bothering to have a tally , I'll just admire, arrange and smoke my stock and enjoy every minute of it with a guilt free conscience

oskihen, there's no guilt attached to unwinding & enjoying a good quality smoke

I know that's why I'll have a guilt free conscience .
But it's not a cheap hobby , I never spend money I haven't got being self employed I have good times and some not so good times .
There aren't any ways to spend your money on a hobby that gives you moments of pure pleasure and relaxation for years to come

6 months in I've spent around ?400. That's based on smoking 1-2 a week when I can enjoy them / right context.

My plan is to invest a little over the next while to stock up & run with it for a bit... I'm pretty certain that another of my "hobbies" or a new one altogether might spark my interest more than the others. The cogs are always turning... The beast never sleeps.

I'm with Oski, I'm not even going to look but I will say that I think of it as a form of savings.

I'm buying more than I smoke as I hope that by the time I retire I'll have a large stash of aged smokes that will see me through my gardening years:

I spent nearly ?3,500 last year (needless to say I was quite shocked when I discovered that!). It is going to be considerably less this year with the baby and my wife working part time (or not at all), I haven't bought any cigars so far in 2015

Probably about ?500 - ?700 this year, maybe more, maybe less.

More if the truth be told what with a humidor, cutter, solution, Noveda etc etc.
