Think how expensive it is to watch a Premier League game live or go to see a musical in the West End or enjoy a night out at the opera.
Compared to some things a quality cigar can seem like one of the more affordable pleasures on occasions.

If you buy the tickets early enough, it's like 20 quid. Musicals are probably the worst. Every year, I see one of the five Wagner rings that the Canadian-Opera-Company puts on and costs around the price of a Siglo VI. I like comparing the cigar costs to a night of drinking. Wouldn't you much rather have a Siglo II on the patio and a nice, fresh steak on the griller?

Though, wiggy is more or less correct. Most people buy more than they smoke to the point of mild insanity. Regardless, it's a bit easier to liquidate fractions of your cigars if needed in case of emergencies (like how the car accident a few weeks ago ate up a over a grand of my money )

Knew a scrap metal dealer years ago, sheepskin coat et al... Said drink the best you can, smoke the best you can - when you can

            I've kept by that thought

It depends. Last year more than expected, but I bought a couple of lots from the Cgars auctions which pushed my total up. This year, not that much, but I am well stocked so haven't felt the need to buy any more boxes.
