New experience for a dedicated Cuban/Cohiba smoker. Mombacho's Tierra Volcan Volcanito 4 1/2 x 26, smallest cigar I've ever smoked. This one is however entirely handmade from Nicaraguan long filler and as such agreeable to smoke, I deduced. It also comes in a rather nice wooden six pack. Coffee to go with was Twin Engine company's Nicaraguan cigar blend No 1.

This is somewhat sneaky strong as its appearance is deceptive. Smoking this is almost semi-surreal as you get medium to strong tobacco flavours and plenty of peppers but have no substance in mouth. It by no means developed or had any complexity but sometimes one wants Gamay and not Pinot.

La Flor de Cano Selectos

Krist asked last month why so little mention is made of this marca so I decided to give one a try. I had previously only smoked the Gran Cano 2013 RE and noted that it had an awful burn and I binned it after the sixth relight. This little beauty was perfect, no relights required all the way till I burned my finger. Delicious smooth nutty flavours with no pepper and a low nicotine yield. It lasted me an hour. Watch out for these on a future split.

I was unsure what to do, but I could tell the problem was at the head - rock solid. Kept cutting down until I could get a proper draw (3/4"ish) and then slid the band up to hold it.... Did the job!

Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No. 1 (Box Date: 2005).

For me.. The perfect cigar.

Everything I love about the Partagas profile.. but richer.
Dried fruits and spice, a touch of earth and woods.. and dusted with cinnamon and a pinch of brown sugar.
Gorgeously aromatic..!

God bless the long and skinny'.. 'Yes', they require patience and focus.. but you're rewarded with every draw.
Shame this type of cigar is almost extinct.
(Damn this 'fad' for fat ring gauge cigars!).
