  • There's A Full Moon on the Rise!

Hello! Names Bobby, Ricky Bobby, but you can call me Ricky, Ricky B, or simply RB, my preferred nom de plume (LOL).

I’m writing this post from a small hacienda located in the mountains of Baja Mexico known as “State of Mind,” where I’ve been working as the caretaker for the past 1 ? years while the owner and his cohorts, whom I’ve never met, are away on some sort of journey. Not long ago, I received a “message” from someone known only as don TJ, requesting that I pursue knowledge in the “art of fine puros.,” I later learned that “don TJ” was actually TJ Coro, owner of the hacienda and what he was talking about was cigars.

Now, being a total newbie to cigars and not knowing where to begin this quest, don TJ made the following suggestion – visit three cigar forums and choose the correct one. The correct one? What the heck does that mean? But he would not elaborate further and simply said additional guidance will be provided if I succeed in my task; otherwise, my journey will end.

So, off I went to find the “correct” forum. The first site I visited is based in Australia and seemed like a good place to start. After a few days, however, I found it to be overly serious and too stuffy, for my taste, without a healthy sense of humor. Not funny. The second place I looked into is a private forum closed to the general public. After sticking my nose under the tent for a few days, I decided it was way too dark and full of angry and hostile posters…and again, not funny. The last and final forum I visited was this place - the UKCF, where I’ve been lurking about for some time getting familiar with the frequent posters. It only took a few days to conclude that the UKCF is a good natured place with a bunch of fine fellows… and at times, funny. So, I decided this was the proper place for a newbie like me to learn the fundamentals of cigars.

I reported my findings to don TJ and was happy to learn that I had succeeded in my first task by choosing the “correct forum.” My next task was to logon under don TJ’s account and introduce myself to the UKCF members (this post). I was also instructed to select a sample of cigars from don TJ’s humidor, aka, the Massive Unit, and post a few pictures (coming soon on another thread near you). As a hint, don TJ suggested I seek out the founding fathers and leading members for advice and guidance in my quest for knowledge and, by all means, avoid posers! But he wouldn't tell me the names of these so-called posers or if they even exist. (Ugh!)

Anyway, as I begin this latest task, let me just say that I’m excited to be here and looking forward to joining in on the forum fun and learning as much as possible about the world of cigars. Oh, I almost forgot…don TJ said it was of utmost importance that I complete my second task (introductory post) on the day of the Summer Solstice.

So, happy Summer Solstice, everyone! Enjoy the full moon tonight!

    RB

Careful of those "Montain Baja's" I hear they come sniffing around your bins at night, hunting out the discarded puro nubs they crave.

They make a right bloody mess and as the caretaker it would probably be your job to clean up after them.

          Anyway, welcome along RB

Hello RB and welcome to the UKCF. I see Don TJ has been rubbing off on you (I Had my suspicions, but that's all cool) and you have deposited your stuff in the right place

For a moment I wondered whether I would have to apply administrative powers and move your greeting to the correct forum, within the 'correct' forum. However, youve dumped your load appropriately and the situation needn't be taken in hand (thank god)

You haven't changed much in what you post chico since you've been away everything in riddles.

Hi & welcome RB, great intro. Sounds like you've been to a scary part of the web - 'too dark and full of angry and hostile posters' come back to the light. I didn't realise it's the solstice today so thanks for that!
