    Hey folks.

Today was slightly different than any other day. House manager took kids to her friends and I was home alone . For most of the day! First thought, glass of alcohol and cigars, but then I realised that I will be another day like every day. Something had to be chaned.

I looked at google maps and found one mysteriously named s**thole - Anderby Creek. Apparently very well known for one of the best 'undiscovered' beaches (???). After taking into consideration all points against the trip (none) I was all geared up and rolling.

Took one cigar with me. I didn't want to spend too much time just sitting and smoking, I also expected quite strong winds at the coast, so it had to be something good, but not any of my best sticks.

I set off from Chesterfield towards Lincoln using mostly country lanes. Tried to avoid fast roads, as this was supposed to be relaxing trip. I stopped once for a fag and drink in the middle of nowhere.

At this point I was half way to my destination. Ride itself was great, not much traffic, amazing weather, great twisty roads. This day couldn't be any better.

As I was just outside of Anderby, I've noticed that a lot of houses had some decorations on the fences - as it turned out, local scarecrow festival! Some of them were quite funny, but most just purely creepy. Then one T junction with signpost in the middle, to which someone strapped two scarecrows. With smily faces and all that. First thing that sprung to my mind was horror move I've watched about two days ago, about scarecrows-killers

But finally I arrived. To my great dissappointment, I couldn't get the bike anywhere near the beach - I wanted few photos of the bike and sea in the background. It wasn't happening there, so I turned GPS off and started to look for suitable spot . Found first one in some residential area, but that wasn't really good. Carried on with the search and finally got to Chapel Beach. i cheated a little to get my shot, but it didn't seem to bother anybody.

Left her in the spot easily visible nearly from the waterline, so didn't have to worry about walking back home. Then nice walk down the beach and finally my objective for the day was fulfilled

Very few people, even less damn seagulls, this turned out to be perfect spot! JLP was just right, the wind was as I expected, if I smoked half of the cigar (despite nubbing it), that would be it.

Later had a short walk on the beach and found some dead creatures like starfish, jellyfish, crabs etc, picked up few shells as my trophies and without GPS returned home. Some of the roads in UK are truly stunning!

I've spent less than one hour on the beach and about 5 hours riding. All in all - fantastic day, for sure I will be doing it more often.

    Cheers
    Tom

PS. I've used "Cigar Travel" subforum as smoking was the sole purpose of this ride. But if mods feel it'll be better joined with today's smoking thread - I'm fine with that.

    Wild Ones!

Great post (and pics) Tom Major. Looks like you made a perfect decision - born to be wild.

I suspect you and the don would have been good mates, based on the rides stored about the hacienda - 1982 900 Honda Custom and 1974 Kawazaki Z1 900.

That sounds like a great day out.
Although I don't ride bikes, I do love to spend time alone in the countryside while fishing.
A smoke or two just makes it even better.

Opps! I have a picture of don TJ's 1982 Honda CB900 Custom, not his Kawasaki Z1. Don Generao took that one a few weeks ago on a journey across Baja California, Mexico.

Apparently, some of don TJ's cohorts (Ray Jay and Bag Boy) were in the process of restoring the CB900 when they left on their definitive journey. Perhaps I'll give it a go while they are away.

So, this one's for you @Tom Major!

As a former owner of a CB900 that thing is an abomination!

                        How so, PeeJay?

Edit: Haha! Just saw Tom Major beat me to the punch...

BTW, I read in don TJ's journal that the sissy bar was added at the insistence of Catalina Joy.

                          A proper motorbike

This was the CB900F, a proper European styled motorbike not some girly American imitation. Mine was black.

Based on my research totally different ride.

But I have no first hand experience, so I have no dog in this fight.

But for the record, the CB900 Custom does look like a sweet ride.

Note: I removed the statement "unlike the eurotrash version in the pic above" from the above sentence. I must have been channeling Ray Jay, who was known for his harsh posts. Not my style. Sorry if it offended anyone who may have seen it before my edit.

Aye, them females change many things.... I was forced to put the top box on my Bandit, but got pissed off and her Indoors had to learn how to be a good pilly.

Would agree on one side, but on the other I think it looks interesting. All naked bikes share same thing - they are somewhat all the same. My Bandit is almost same as the one I rode during my DAS, while I have two mates with HD Breakouts in my club and they are totally different bikes...
