Right so last night was my brothers 21st and why I would have preferred a more substantial Cigar, my brother is still a bit unsure when it comes to bigger cigars so this to me was the perfect opportunity for a better intro to Cubans. Now I do have some Monte Puritos but hadn't yet tried RYJ version of these so thats what we did last night after a lovely meal overlooking the Barbican here in Plymouth.

The RYJ Purito is a fine intro to Cuban Cigars but specifically the RYJ brand which as cigars go are flavourful but very mellow and smooth and this was exactly that a very nice small cigar that was smooth and through out the entire cigar had a ever so slight wall nutty hit to it very nice and especially a great cigar for those who may be unsure with Cubans.
At just a little over 6 quid on Cgars, I got this smoke to last a good 20-25 minutes which was very good and prevents overheating which can be a problem with the smaller cigars. Towards the end the typical nicotine and peppery fire came through before like all cigars it went a bit bitter which for me it the point I put it down.
Overall a very nice cigar for what it is and for fans of RYJ in general now how does it compare with the Monte Puritos well the answer is that a RYJ taste like a RYJ and a Monte taste like a Monte. Where the RYJ had a very nice walnut like hit, the Monte has a very pistachio nuttiness that is a lot more pronounced and hence a little bit more fire to it.
Both excellent cigars when you dont want to go for something over the 30 minute mark or more, and both excellent examples of what RYJ offers and what Montes offer. So would I buy RYJ Puritos again?
Yes I would, especially when my wallet may be a consideration for your money you get a very nice smoke nothing complex but a little slice of cuban sunshine and sometimes thats all you need.
