I've been looking into this for a little while and I've seen a few kits online and fancy having a go myself.

Just seeing if anyone else has done it before?

    Thanks

Any tips for a newbie. Don't want to go too mad, just in case I don't enjoy it. Found this starter kit online at a good price.

I tried this a few years ago, thought it would be easy and failed miserably

Sorry just saw that it's a good price...I think I ended spending close to 50.

It is fun...Just annoying when it goes wrong...Cidar was just too messy to carry on making it and my brother in-law cut down his happy tree so no more free apples [emoji17]

Rule 1; it will fail if your kit isnt sterilized properly.

Other than that, stick with Coopers kits to start with and use liquid malt or beer improver as you sugar. Then just follow the instructions and you will be ok.

I think my attempt failed due to getting the temperature wrong for fermentation

I've been making beer on and off for the last 30 years, the hardest part is waiting until it's clear enough to drink. If everything is cleaned and sterilised waiting will be the hardest part

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment as you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it!

I use the kits and also do a weekly mash from the grain and hops. STERILISE EVERYTHING is the best tip. Make sure to have a 2nd fermenter for when you siphon off and add the sugar or what ever else you use.
