So I'm back first Cigar of the New Year as its beautiful today in Plymouth so time to make the most of it, so after trying the Drew Estate Acid Morado Maduro last year and falling in love with the sweet aromatic smoke I ordered just before Christmas a few of its bigger brother the Acid Atom Maduro at around what I think is a 50ish ring gauge the much bigger brother.

So lets begin, the pre-light smell is actually a tad less aromatic than the Acid Krush Morado Maduro but still wonderfully delightful (remember I love Drew Estate Acid range these infused cigars I adore) lovely oily chocolate brown wrapper although not too oily with a wrapped foot, lets get to the lighting: Due to my lighter being on its dying days and needing a refuel the burn was not great but with a few touches we got there, beautiful plumes of smoke and a silver ash just lovely.

So the initial taste is of course the very sweet cap, which some like and some hate, I love it as I find it an invitation to relaxation so great, the flavour present however in this one has a much more Tobacco hit and a mature tobacco at that with the aromatic blend tagged on the end in a slight reversal to the way the Acid Krush Morado Maduro started. As always with the Acid range you will need a drink my paring this afternoon a bottle of Franziskaner. With the cigar highlighting the citrus flavours of the beverage so nice

As we get further through now the aromatics are taking a firmer hold however the lovely mature tobacco is still there and always at the front, lovely hits of so many various aromatics however the blend used here is clearly different compared to the Acid Krush Morado Maduro and therefore the Atom Maduro is more like a cousin to the Krush Maduro as oppose to its big brother. Which for me is only ever so slightly a let down just because of how much I adore the Krush Morado Maduro.
As we get further through it the sweetness remains but is not as strong as in the first few puffs which is typical of the Acid range and Drew Estate in general. The smoke is smooth and soft in the mouth, and flavour wise we are now getting a hint of nuts not much but just thrown in there with the aromatics and the tobacco. This profile remains right up until the end were as we approach the very end your typical slight and ever so slight harshness will rear itself but by this point we are coming to the nub.

So the Drew Estate Atom Maduro, a nice smoke very nice in fact. But it could not live up to the superb smoke that I had with the Krush Morado Maduro. It was nice and I can not stress enough it was very nice and had a bit more of the traditional flavour of a cigar (its still an Acid so that isn't saying a lot so if your not a fan your not going to converted by any means).
Its size is a decent larger size cigar and this will be one I have again without a doubt. However I would love Drew Estate to do a slightly bigger version of the Krush Morado Maduro as the blend used in that little cigar is one that sets my tastebuds off, the Atom got them going after 10 minutes or so were the Krush set them off straight away. But regardless of that the Drew Estate Acid Atom Maduro is a delight especially for those who love the Acid range and a real relaxing smoke.
But as a side not I am curious about the Drew Estate Java Mint cigar which you can't seem to get here it does look lovely, I am also curious if Drew Estate do a slightly bigger version of the Krush Morado Maduro I'm thinking along the lines of H.Upman Junior Corana size if not a little bit more. However the Atom Maduro is lovely cigar a definite try for fans of the Acid range and lovely way to unwind the afternoon.
