Just how moist should the tip be before you put it into your mouth? Am I right in thinking that an overly moist tip can contribute to bitterness, or is that a myth?

Don TJ once told the Coro youngsters that we should moisten the tip of the stick just enough before we glide it in. Unfortunately, I don't think he was referring to cigars.

But to your query - I would say just moisten the head or, as some say, "tip" of the CIGAR just a tad so that the wrapper gives a wee bit before you push the punch - a second or two in the mouth should do it....or is that what she said? I'm so confused!

Another cup of joe over here, por favor!

When using a cigar punch it is better to moisten the cap slightly before punching it to avoid the cap cracking or splitting

Well I've heard told from an older gent that I know who first got me started with real cigars once likened it like this. A good cigar is like a good woman you want to seduce her, use a bit of foreplay moisten the cap Rob it makes it better for everyone.

I loved that and so I always moisten the cap just a little just enough to make the seduction complete
