  • Corfu - Riga airport

OK .... Corfu. Ziltch, nada, zero in the way of Habanos that I could find. I was only in Corfu Town (which is the main town on the island) for four hours, so possibly I missed somewhere, but I don't think so. Riga airport was also crap. There was a Habanos humidor, but the biggest and most exciting cigars in it were one x25 box of Super Partagas. Everything else was cartons of JLP or card packs of RyJ.
Corfu itself is a bit of a disappointment, everything appears run-down and in a lot of cases abandoned, decayed or half built. Food wasn't great in any of the restaurants we tried. Greeks are really nice people, but I think for good eating best leave things to the French and Italians.

I took a load of Tubos with me. None got smoked. I haven't smoked since being ill in Feb. Sometimes I feel tempted but I'm not sure I ever will again.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Ack. Sorry to hear this. Will be passing through Corfu. Already planned to take half my humidor with me!

Sorry to hear of your illness. Hope you're on the road to recovery.

As for Greek food. I've never had gourmet Greek food. But for me good Greek food is among the best. Not much beats a well cooked Souvla...

But from what you say, as usual, tourist destinations seem to be well, on the whole, shit. Never understood this mentality...

Still people probably want cheap. Sunshine. Will put up with the rest.

As for cigars. Probably need to hunt down the 5 [emoji93] establishments. If they exist!

im heading to Corfu the last week in May. any updates on the topic of cigars?

its our 1st real beach holiday. hotel is literally on the beach so dont plan to do much else. eat, drink and puff my lungs out!

wouldnt mind a trip into town for a deal but looks unlikely!

Corfu is like many Greek destinations...lovely. The water can be cold but is a fabulous mineral blue colour, the food is fab, the people nice and the countryside is great. One caveat...keep well away from the crowds. `just my opinion of course...

Those photos look nice. Three weeks today I shall be enjoying the leaf in Majorca, can't wait.

We went to Corfu Town on a cruise stop last year. It was quite pleasant and we enjoyed the stroll around but when we stopped at a nice outdoor cafe the owned asked me not to smoke a cigar as his wife had asthma. Every table had an ashtray on it! He wasn't Greek though.

Corfu is a lovely island with plenty to do. Corfu town has a lovely Promonade with lots of cafes to watch the world go by and enjoy a cigar with your coffee.

There's the old and new fortresses either side of the bay, the Vlanchera Monastery and a couple of small islands near by, or if your feeling adventurous there are day trips to Albania. Plus if you want to hire a car there are loads of lovely small bays to discover dotted bout the island.
