  • Windows 7 slow to respond

I've had pretty good luck in the past solving PC problems on this forum. Now I need assistance with a new problem that cropped up after a power outage.

I have Windows 7 pro loaded on my PC and after a power outage today, it no longer responds when I try to open a program from the desk top. I also can't get the "start" button to open so I can shut it down properly. So I'm forced to turn the power off to get it to close.

I've been researching the Google for solutions and I've done two safe boots where I was able to restore to a proir time. But no luck so far.

Any ideas what else I can try?

Back to bed, lads. Nothing to see here.

    Update Status: Stand Down.

After waiting approximately 15 minutes for the "Start" button to respond, the menu finally appeared and I was able to do a proper shut down. After that, I booted up and everything works fine. Whew!
