What RH do you favour?

I know some prefer 63-62% for long term aging but there is always conditions which make the humidity go up & down & 60 & less will lead to brittle wrappers & will be rather dry in the middle (especially on larger RG's. I keep mine with 65% Boveda's these days & minor up's 7 down's don't cause any problems. I might dry box 28RG's before smoking e.g. LGCNo3's or RG Slenderella's but 32RG+ usually smoke fine @ 65%.

exactly this.... what the Doctor said. I confess I was a 69% fan until i mis-ordered a bunch of Boveda for a wineador at 65%... which now really suits my tastes. This is a modest change as my humis held fast at 67 irrespective... despite shuffling hygros and 69% packs.

but 65 packs has dropped the steady level to 65/66 and am finding that its a pleasant improvement. I am an unabashed Boveda fan as they seemingly remove a lot of the fiddling about and worrying about temp etc managing RH really well.

Funny you should ask. I did come across an old video that don TJ made duing an interview he and his amigos did with don Jesus Lara Perez back in 2009. Unfortunately, most of it is in spanish, so I need to add subtitles before I upload it.

Regarding don TJ, he has shared a few interesting stories on this here fine forum in the past. I?ll have to dig through his journals, however, to see if I can find any worth sharing.

For me it depends on the sticks...for a Cuban short filler i have my humi at 60-62(i find it helps with draw issues) where as a really strong NC like a LFD digger i think they smoke better at 72. Most sticks are fine at 65-69 though

I go for 65 with bovida pouches. Stays about 67 and seems okay.
