  • How would you like your steak sir?

Charred on the outside but medium rare in the middle please.

So cigar smokers have a reputation for knowing what they want and being somewhat fussy about it, right?

Tonight's steak, the chef chickened out and didn't char my rib eye. And it was rare. It was nice enough. I didn't complain. But I think my order most places can't accommodate. Some do however! So that means they all can in theory.

You lot order of the book or do you have special requirements? And is it a big deal if chef can't make it?

I like mine rare, but wit a warm center. I cheap places I don't make a fuss if it's not cooked right, but when I'm eating at an expensive place I won' my steak as I ordered it. In the US you usually get your steak for free if they messed up.

medium rare. I am not fussy. My rule is i won't go back to a restaurant if anything is unsatisfactory about the experience.

Depends on the cut for me. Fillet I'll take rare, rump/sirloin rare to medium. I rarely have steak when I'm eating out unless it's a place I know is good as usually its never cooked right and I feel dissatisfied that I've paid a premium to eat food I can make better at home.

and THIS is why i do not cook for you @ha_banos

My ideal steak is 'warm blooded' - cooked on the outsides, but some lovely warm, bloody flesh on the inside. I also find that the juices, warm blood, makes for a lovely marinade for the chips (if you have them...guess it may just be a salad for some of you models) on the plate!

However, i now finding myself hankering for a steak for breakfast!

                  N.B.

Minced in a burger, I don't enjoy steaks.

Mine would be medium. Anything too rare just tastes too slimy for me. Like eating sushi. And i think i would rather starve than eat sushi! Lost a lot of weight in Japan...

Sadly there's very little consistancy in what constitutes rare or medium. In France I would always order '? point' and invariably it would be great. In the UK I usually order rare and hope for the best. Like potpest, I usually prefer to buy a decent piece of ribeye and cook it myself rather than pay ?25 in a restaurant and be disappointed.

Doesn't really matter, so long as the quality of the steak is good! Although it has to be warm all the way through - I don't like the combination of cold and texture on a blue steak

Rare/medium, home cooked over charcoal and a simple salad. If the ingredients are good no need to over guild the lilly
