  • Costa Rica?

Off to Costa Rica in March - anyone know what smoking culture is like out there?

Don't think I've ever seen any Costa Rican cigars, but would be interested in trying if they exist. If anyone's been, have you had any joy at the airports? I'll be flying in to Juan Santamaria, and back from Liberia if that helps

There are Costa Rican cigars but I would guess the same rules apply to buying Cubans as everywhere else in the Caribbean, don't unless its a reputable shop.

I'm going in july so shall watch with interest. Have found that Costa Rica has strong anti smoking laws, hotels take action against those smoking on balconies or anywhere but the designated area. I did find that there's a costa Rican cigar shop on coco beach in guanacaste. Will probably pay a visit and sample their wares.

I came back a few weeks ago... in san jose there are 2 shops 1 is called havana something and it's in a knocking shop. Very expensive for Cubans - catering for the americans. Google maps shows a shop on Ave 2 but the location is incorrect, it's waaay out of town .

There are a few local cigars but I bought them for novelty purpose only they are in the humidor resting until it gets warmer outside.

Oh also please don't fly nature air! They had a few fatal crashes recently. I missed the last one by a day!!

              Thanks all!

Probably won't bother looking around for sticks - I'm going to be a little bit off the beaten track anyway. Hoping I can have a few sticks by the beach though!

Back from my travels! Not sure what Niels saw, but almost everywhere I went in CR was non-smoking. There were a few local cigars, which I didn't pick up, and also the usual fauxhibas!

My phone broke whilst I was away, but once it's back there will be pics. Hopefully I've not missed a bargain!

I usually smoked at the beach, so didn't notice where you can or cannot smoke. But you are right about the offering. Bring your own cigars, nothing to see there...
