  • La Escepcion?

Prompted by a bit of tending the cigar collection, i realised i am almost out of the 2015 Don Jose.

So, a few mins later I found a box via a source on Instagram....some $700 for the box. Now the audacity of that pricing did in fact cheer me up no end! It reminded me that there will always be an almost never ending flow of lovely things upon which you can blow your cash!

Heres my question.... Is there a schedule of release for this brand? If so, when / what is the next stick? I appreciate it will be a different vitola, but am deeply intrigued!

i have enjoyed the don jose that i have had, despite some views that it wasnt a superb stick, and early boxes outshone later ones. I'd happily take any i could find, at a reasonable price too!

The brand has been discontinued decades ago and the Italians revived it for two regional editions the second being the Don Jose. Take a look at the cubancigarwebsite, you’ll find the first one on there. I forgot it’s name but it’s supposed to be a stellar smoke.

I will try to dig out the name of a store who had some left a few months ago and pm it to you. The guy is expensive but they should be much lower than $700. I hope that I’ll be able to find his e-mail.

Selectos Finos Italian ER 2011 is the one you're thinking off & indeed a superb ER, one of the best, in a lovely slim format. Haven't tried the Don Jose but I'd be surprised if it was better. PM me too please with details of seller ;O)

I had to choke down a ruder response than I would normally give when I saw the price... 'rare cuban' it might be but it can stay rare.... they are good tasty sticks but they certainly are not worth that amount of dough!

It seems this is the way with LE. And it feels like production is moving towards LE more and more... this is also the way for aged sticks too. Seems like theres a lot more folks willing to pay a lot of money!

It does provide a business opportunity for those able to store and age sticks though. It also means I find it very hard to justify breaking into my box of Cohiba Robusto Supremos!

indeed so... i do wish to smoke my talisman... but the world seems to be going nuts... I dont buy anything colllectable with the intention of selling but it could be tough with some sticks...

Exactly, and it providers the addicts with an excuse for their perpetual purchases - building an investment portfolio, one much more reliable than Bitcoins ...
