  • How do you like to take first cigar out of a dress box?

How do you prefer to extract that first cigar from a Dress Box?

They are usually crammed in a bit tight and need some leverage without damaging the cigars! Do you have a secret tool or method?

I've used a pencil or fingernail. Sometimes from the cap, sometimes from the foot. Generally no damage ensues....

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Haha, I just pull one out with fingers. Honestly never thought about it much. Generally when new cigars arrive they are over humidified for me, by the time they have been in the humi a few months they are much less tightly packed in the box I find.

Hahaha, finally breaking into a box huh? I tend to 'turn' the cigar at the band, this usually pops it right out!

I try to pull the first one out by putting a finger on the band and gently rolling it over to either side whilst applying some light pressure to lift it at the same time. It doesn't always work since I have big fingers.

I once destroyed the wrapper of a Boli CG. Since that day I put my finger where the band is.

They (Habanos SA) should stop to try and save money with those stupid dress boxes and put all cigars into cabs!

I gently lever it from the foot using a blunt implement like a butter knife

Of course quality boxes of NCs have a ribbon inserted under the first one to lift it out safely but you Cuban only smokers wouldn't know that

Lightly tapping the underside of the box tends to work them loose.
Or just easing one out with fingers.

I am certain if Dupont or Dunhill are reading this they could make a lovely expensive accessory to help...

                    Jewel encrusted butter-knife?

I do the same but at the other end... slip it between cap and box... upon the assumption I am cutting the cap off, I dont mind if I nick it a little.

Push it and roll it slightly at the cap till the foot lifts up usually.

I usually put my thumbs on the stick to the left, apply a little pressure so it can't move and then use my fingers to roll the one on the right, tends to roll straight out of the box.
