Thought as my new humidor is about ready to take cigars now I'd post up some pics of my collection and whats going into the humidor. Up until now id been using boveda humibags and a xikar travel humidor case, so will be nice to be able to use a proper humidor from now on.

That looks like a great line up, there’s some top smokes among that collection.

He means you'll smile when you look at your enormous stash and think, 'How the hell did that happen?!'

haha thats probably going to be true! Half the fun is smoking cigars and the other half is finding and buying them! especially looking out for aged and rarely items.

Same goes for all the cutters and lighter.. these seem to be amassing now, though not at the rate of the cigars

Thanking You. As I'm still finding my feet properly with cigars im trying to work through as much variety as I can to find my preferences - currently though I seem to like everything.... might need a bigger humidor now

That’s the best way to start in my opinion, variety is the spice of life after all. How long have you been smoking/collecting and what are your favourites so far?

                And hygrometers for some folks...

Beautiful looking stash, with some lovely sticks amongst them

We shall certainly see this grow over time

Very nice spread seeing everything laid out. I'm still on a total variety splurge. Always new things to try.

                    Keep up the good work!

                    Don't neglect those hygros....

I got into cigars properly about a year ago, having had a few now and then before but not really paying attention to anything.

Current favourites are Epiure no2, El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme and Trinidad Vigia - for non cubans im really liking the Oliva Serie V.

Im working into the stronger stuff now and am enjoying each Partagas I smoke and I had a fantastic 2005 H.Upmann Mag 46 - I know this one isn't strong but was truly wonderful and i'd love to get my mitts on some more of those.

Yet to venture into the world of Cohiba - I just can't see past the cost of them currently!

And as always I am open to suggestions of new things to try!

Thanks! I'm always on the look out things to buy...maybe now even more hydrometers!

                            Off and Running!

Looks like you’re off to a very good start, chico.

(ahem...) And speaking of puro accoutrements, why I remember the first time ol’ don TJ introduced me to the world of puros...

It was a warm, sunny morning in SoM when the don asked me to accompanying him on a trip to town to visit the local puro merchant. Once there, he instructed me to selected a few sticks and he would buy them for me. As I stared at all the lovely puros displayed about the shop, I picked five that caught my eye, mostly because I thought they had “cool bands.” But now that I had my sticks, I needed something to cut ‘em with. The store proprietor directed me towards a large glass case in the front of the shop that was full of shiney and expensive cutters and punches. WTF!

I was shocked, SHOCKED at the prices and clearly remember asking why would anyone pay So Much for a cutter when for just a few pesos you could buy a plastic one to do the job. I mean, what’s the big deal? Isn’t the cigar the important thing? So, as I plucked the cheapest plastic, single blade cutter I could find from a small cardboard bin on the front counter, both don TJ and the proprietor smiled knowingly at me, but said nothing.

Many moons later, I now realize what was behind those smiles, and I shiver everytime I think of the money I’ve wasted.... errr, I mean, spent over the years collecting fine cutters and punches.

                            True Story.

                            Bag Boy

I’m yet to try the Vigia but I love Trinidad so I imagine it will be to my taste also.

The mag 46 is a great smoke, especially one 13 years old!

I think that’s a smart smart call on Cohiba, they need plenty of age to be properly appreciated. I tried smoking them because of the name when I first started and all were far too young. It took me a few years and some aged singles I picked up on holiday to finally get an idea on what all the fuss is about.
