  • The changing quality of Cuban cigars

Reading a lot there seems to be a trend that older Cuban cigars are much more flavourful and complex than current productions.

Is this just aging (though I thought this generally improved smoothness ) or that cigars made in the 90s and before are of a much better quality tobacco than current products?

Maybe just a false view brought about by comparing the best of vintage sticks to current large range of available general sticks.
    Thoughts?

Tobacco is in a constant state of development as they try to fight off bugs and disease so I wouldn't expect the cigars of today to taste the same as those of yesterday even when they purport to be the same stick. Then there is of course the variables of ageing tobacco and palates. Construction wise quality control is better now so you 'should' get a better smoke but Cuba e Cuba as they say. Are they better quality? I don't think so, just different maybe.
