Is there anything in this, scientific or otherwise? I generally do it anyway but I'm not sure my palate is sufficiently developed to notice the difference.

I have smoked cigars straight out of the box having travelled here from the USA and Hong Kong. So long as the humidity is fine what good is resting going to do? Do they need to recover form the trauma of their journey? Do they get jet lag? I think not.

Temperature, humidity. Pressure variations during travel. Time out of airtight packing. How long they were in this packing.

My lord that would affect my mood if I traveled like that.

I tend to find I have lots of burn issues when I smoke cigars within a month of arriving. Might be coincidence, might be confirmation bias... who knows? But this hobby tends to reward patience so I have no issue waiting a little while (most of the time at least )

I'm not worrying. Just the analytical mind raising what could affect stogie during any travels.

Smallbatch cigars did some 'tests' on shipping cigars within the US - interesting read.

That is interesting, I expected there to be some variation but those swings are way above what I expected!

That’s just intra-US too, I wonder how international shipping would compare?

This sounds like an experiment we should carry out, is there an off the shelf product that will make these recordings without a persistent connection? Google search time...

This is what I'm working on next. Low power solution that should last ages on a watch battery or AAA...

Good read but does anyone have any negative anecdotal evidence?

I always try and rest mine now, most vendors store way too humid for me and I dont like it, so 2-3 months in the humi does wonders.
