Thanks all, just a few more newbie questions...

When people state the year of a cigar is that the year they purchased or do they always know the age because they are form a box?
So, if I buy singles online do I assume they are from the current year?

Also, a lot of the cigar shops/lounges in Vegas seem to sell their own in house sticks. From the descriptions and reviews they seem quite reputable.
Anyone have any experience and do you think it would be worth bringing some back?

                  Thanks in advance!

                    Good questions, chico....even for a !

Q1 - The “date” of the puro/cigar is the date marked on the bottom of the box of Cuban cigars. Now, don’t quote me, but I thinks the box dates are about 6 months AFTER the puros were actually placed in the box. At least that’s what I’ve heard.

Q2 - I’ve had the occasion to sample a few custom/house brand sticks in Vegas and I found some to be quite nice. Definately worth a try, in my opinion. Two caveats, however - They are not Cuban tobacco and if freshly rolled, like all freshly rolled sticks, must be smoked with a week or two or before the enter the so-called “sick period.”

Thanks, so it?s NC tobacco but most NC sticks are aged after rolling before distribution but these would not have been?
If I bought them and put them to bed for a few years would they be ok?

Again, all good questions. I’m promoting you to Knewbie 1st Class!

No reputable NC dealer would sell sticks in the “sick period.” And as far as I know, all major NC brands are properly aged before they hit the vendors shelf. So they are ready to go the day you buy them.

Now, I don’t know about “house brand” sticks and I would not hesitate to ask. Catalina Joy Coro recent brough back several “house brand” custom rolled NCs from St. Maarten Island and they were NOT ready to smoke, so I put them to bed and will revisit ‘em in one year.
