• Whats your best buy in the last 6-12 months.....?

We're in prime cigar weather. With the consumption of our sticks comes the need to re-stock/ pre-stock ready for after the inevitable British rain!! The 'whats new in the humidor' thread tends to show everything, but whats been the gem you've really wanted and been able to land in the last 6-12 and why?

Ours is not a hobby for those who go light headed when they open their wallet, so we are all lucky people, who are able to enjoy these fine sticks - but which ones really stuck out? I have two for similar reasons... good sticks helped out by BOTLS along the way...

Firstly - ERDM Petit Robusto RE Spain...a ten box care of a legendary piece of true BOTL behaviour! I missed them on the launch. Spotting my deep envy of a box recently acquired by @gojira, @Budgie Smuggler was doing a trade with someone who he knew had a box of these for sale too. He pinged me a mail to see if I wanted them, added them to his order, and then fired them on to me directly! Brilliant. just brilliant. I still feel very lucky!

The second was a bit of a blind roll of the dice. Through a few cheeky questions to people like tommy and PeeJay I connected to a chap willing to sell some 2012 Monsdales. I bought 20 and split them. Regrettably I don't believe I have a picture, but be assured they are the most smooth smoke I have had in quite some considerable time. And dang it I now only have 9 left .... but am still 10/10 privileged.

Rest assured the other purchases (mostly from box splits with heroic BOTL's like RobustoClubHavana and RobBooth) have all been brilliant... but these two stick out as special in recent history.

Well, a few singles come to mind, all of them gifted or traded from/with very generous people on here:

Por Larra?aga Sobresalientes @RobBooth
Bol?var Lonsdales @PeeJay
Por Larra?aga Encantos @Johnny Thunder
El Rey del Mundo Grandes de Espa?a @potpest

And a couple of boxes that I'm in love with:

Connie A LUB NOV 13
Party 8-9-8 10 count LAG SEP 10

I'm to lazy to dig out pics....

I purchased 3 bundles of custom rolls but don't have them in hand yet, so they don't count.

I love me some customs and have some more en route too- they do give a special feeling... But then i always liked unbanded sticks from cabs back in the day.... Oddly seemed more special. I would love me a box of connie a's!

I have only recently started purchasing custom rolls but there's something special about them.

As for the Connie A, it's one of the best regular production cigars available nowadays in my book.

Well, I just think its a fantastic cigar, and a big shame it wasn't made in a larger number. 5 boxes is only like 2 x 25's - so not too bad, but you're right - shaved quite a bit of the budget.

I've been quite lucky recently.

A load of different CR
A pair of Tailsman at a very reasonable price

And a very very generous gift from RobBooth a

It does get fantastic reviews, some say better than the Cohiba Supremos. I’ve not tried either so can’t comment but I do have two Topes in the humidor.

Have had a heavy year, can't believe how much I have bought but rare & unusual things have kept cropping up & as the money is just sitting in the bank not earning anything, I might as well invest it more wisely in fine vintage Havana's. Buying Tippex's collection must be the highlight though, the most difficult part (once the logisitics were sorted out) was deciding which half to share, not an easy choice. There were only 3 complete boxes in the collection, including Boli Gold Medals from year of release & a now HTF cab of Party SdCNo3.

Other buys: Cohiba Exquisitos '01, SP CG '01 & cream of the crop ERDM Panetelas Largas 1970's in a Semi Boite Nature Box.
Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

I've been very fortunate to be able to land a few of the latest REs with the help of gojira. Without his help I would have been paying well over the odds no doubt, so thank you very much Mike!

I've been gifted a few great sticks over the past year. Most notable was a Talisman gifted by a very generous BOTL who managed to get a box on release day and shared them out among friends on a drunken herf a couple of days later. The cigar wasn't great but the generosity shown and the company enjoyed made it an occasion of note for me.

Cigars that are rolled usually to order by a roller who does not work for a factory or manufacturer. Most of them work in hotels in Cuba and become well known like Alex, Jorge, La China and Juanita to name a few.
