Have attempted... limoncello... but less impressed with my results. My efforts with sloe gin & vodka, damson gin & vodka, blackberry vodka, and rumtopf have all been successively positive. All of these do get appreciatively better with a touch of age on them too! the flavours calm down and mellow and mix better. This might be the case with the limoncello i attempted but suspect i put in too much sugar. I tried to make a ginger vodka at the same time and it was staggeringly awful and time would not change it!!!

Yeah it?s all in the sugar syrup I feel

          And the filtering ...

Worth it but you don?t get the flavour of the Mediterranean in Scotland ha

A lime version would be nice, or tangerine.

Have made Limoncello before with good results, the quality of Lemons used is key. Done some interesting fat washing aswell, smoked bacon vodka for bloody mary's. I'm yet to try it in bourbon for a benton's old fashioned but ive heard it works well.

Not a scooby on how to make it but if you get the good, authentic stuff, keep it in the freezer...it turns into an ice cold syrup and it?s dangerously easy to drink

                            Ingredients

                            • 5 unwaxed lemons

                            • 1l bottle vodka

                            • 750g caster sugar
                            • 700ml boiling water

                            Method

                            • Pare the zest from all the lemons, taking care not to include any white pith. Put the zest in a large clean jar and pour over the vodka. Cover with a tightly fitting lid and leave for a week, shaking the jar each day.
                            • Put the sugar in a heatproof bowl and pour over the boiling water, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Add the vodka and peels and leave for a further week, shaking the jar regularly.
                            • Strain into decorative bottles, adding a few strips of lemon zest to each bottle.
