• Gav's Cigar Acquisition Diary

Following on from my first larger purchase a few months back, I've now made quite a nice collection after a trip to visit my sister in Munich.
She'll be getting quite a few more visits from now on!

On this visit I have purchased my first boxes.
10 Partagas D 5s, dated mar17, I'll be smoking one about every 4-5 months to see how they progress.
10 Punch 48s, dated feb 18, will be going to sleep for a year. Although I may try one soon to get the fresh taste.

Also got a bunch of singles to try and keep me topped up.

I got some Rocky Patels gifted from the kind gent I purchased an Adorini humidor from.
And some Nicks Sticks (never heard of these and have yet to try, anyone had one?) gifted from my sister's friend after a trip to the US.

I'll be having a barbecue soon for some old friends and I'll see if I can getting anyone started on the hobby

Great idea to buy a box of 10, Habanos started producing quite a few different vitolas in boxes of 10 & then promptly deleted them again. I think that was a mistake, as its surely the way to encourage new people into the world of puro cigars, a box of 25 is a big commitment for anyone, let alone when you are starting out. Germany is supposed to be the cheapest place to buy in Europe at the moment (can't say I thought they were that cheap on my last visit) but these days, it's more a question of finding the sticks you want as Habanos struggle to meet demand on the more popular lines.
PS Forgot to mention, Party No5's are great smokes, tasty & easy to find time to smoke them & great winter in the UK type smokes, if you haven't the boon of smoking indoors so I am sure they won't last long.

Simon I agree was surprised at the lack of selection of 10s, which is why I went for a single selection as well. Although the guy at the La Casa Habano shop in Munich was really helpful and was happy to break up 25s into empty 10 boxes if that's what I wanted.

The D.5 is one of my favourite sticks so I'm sure it won't be my last box!
Sometimes you just can't decide whether to go for ones you love or ones you haven't tried.

Lovely haul your getting there...the d4 are great cigars imo. Yet to have e a properly aged one....but the ones with 3/4 yrs on them smoke really well.
