• An odd one

Not cigar related in the slightest, but as you've supported her with her chair, I thought it worth posting here.
My daughter has asked that I put this vid up in as many places as I possibly can, so as a dutiful father that's what I'm doing.
She's on a downer about everything at the moment, to do with SMA - not least the fact that the only drug that can keep her alive has been declined marketing authorisation in the UK.
So she's done this to cheer herself up - She'd like feedback on her voice - and she'd like people to share it if they feel they can.
TIA
GH.

p.s. The flowers may seem odd - but she wanted people concentrating on her voice, not on how she looks.

p.p.s If this ain't appropriate mods, please take it down, I'll understand completely

Hi groundhog, I do a lot of work a as a vocal coach (West End/Broadway, X-Factor, The Voice etc) and thought that this was a really powerful rendition. The projection and tone were consistent throughout and the sound was nice and bright. Try to keep the vowels open for the duration of the note eg: try 'sewed as 'soooooooooowd' and be careful not to over-energise the first note/beat of the phrase; this will mean there is more air to get to the ends of phrases and there will be less air in the sound in general. If you give my new Facebook page a follow (Vocal Zone Voice Studio) I should be uploading some videos and downloadable lessons soon. Tell her to keep singing and more importantly, to keep enjoying singing! That's what it's all about!

I will pass that on to her - it will make her day!

Sounds great and glad to see there?s something which she can put her energy into. I say that as my niece has Type 3 SMA and at 5 years old, she?s already struggling.

Like you it?s been difficult to take the news that Spiranza won?t be funded in any way by the NHS but there potentially hope through the direct access route. That could take a long time though and given my niece is Type 3, probably wouldn?t be on the list for access.

When I spend time with her it really makes me think about how you need to live life to the fullest you can, cigars and all!

She sounds like she's really enjoying herself and without knowing her age, I would have thought it was a much older girl singing. Anymore songs she enjoys singing? Great tips from Adam too. [emoji106]

Cheers dude - you wouldn't think she was only 9..
She adores singing more than anything - and it's really good for her respiratory system too - so it's like she's doing physio, but without all the arguments!
She's currently practicing a few more songs so she can do videos of - Hallelujah, Zombie, Amazing Grace and Russian Roulette are on her to do list so far.
They'll all be going on her youtube channel

Your niece may have SMA - but I bet she's as bright as a button? The universe seems to take away with one hand, but give a little back with the other....

And you're totally right - take every opportunity and live life to the full

All the best to her bud, she can certainly hold a note better than me and a lot of stuff I see on the telly box.

Hope she can ignore any nay sayers and just continue to enjoy it and explore her talent.
