Get yourself a PerfecDraw. Great for unplugging most tight cigars.
I have in the past simply used a sturdy twig, but no matter how big I made the hole, the draw was never that great. Are these working better, because of the teeth they have on them?

Yes, the barbs draw/pull out the tobacco as opposed to simply pushing the tobacco out of the way, on whole I'd say it has helped 90% of the time for me
Only the impossible is worth the effort.

The only times that the PerfecDraw hasn't worked for me is on 2 different San Cristobals - an El Morro and a La Fuerza, which were just absolutely solid. Literally like wooden sticks.

Just toss em into a BBQ and enjoy the smell!

The tool would have solved the issue, but I believe 74% is just too high for Cubans.
It is upsetting when this happens in a lounge environment and yes 74% is way to high, to much moisture causing the tobacco to swirl, creating a stiff draw.

Maybe I am just too fussy, but I do smoke at least two cigars a day, so there will be the odd cigar with a overly heavy draw. When I say I saved 4 cigars this month - those were 4 cigars I cut in the last three months that I put to one side rather than binning them. I sorted them with the tool and smoked them all. Was more of a test of the tool just to see if it actually works.

I can say that it does not feel right to have to use the tool, but its sad to bin a cigar. Or am I missing something. What do the rest of you do with a bad draw? Or is it all a mind of matter issue?

Its definitely a tool worth having if it savours a great smoke, im going to buy one now........i dont really want to but you have to accept cubans are very firmly packed, if this could help me and others like your self its worth the money.

I tend to toss cigars that are to tight

The draw of your typical Cuban is better for me, a little resistance but not too tight inevitably the odd one will be too tight. Its far better than the NC draw, like sucking on a big straw. Take 100 Cubans, I expect less than 5 would need to use the tool, if every cigar is tight then its far more likely the issue lies elsewhere.
Not all my smokes are super tight, but not always loose enough to get the type of draw i like
