Shotgun certificate is ?50 for 5 years. You can get a gun for a few hundred quid - doesn?t matter how fancy it is if you point it in the right place, you?ll hit something. Getting a gun that fits is the most important thing. Cartridges, box of 25 are ?6-?7. Then it?s your club membership, if you join a club (you don?t have to).

If you want to go down the game shooting route, the sky?s the limit - you?re paying per bird you shoot plus entry etc on these commercial shoots.

Clays are the most accessible, cost friendly route unless you are part of/have a family game shoot etc.

        Hope that helps!

Don?t forget BASC CPSA membership for insurance.

Game shooting - best way to do it is finding a self run syndicate.

Good point although there are other insurers as well that will one in a bit cheaper.

Fortunately I get an invite each year from a syndicate so I get my game shooting fix each year!

I have a Glock 17 AND a CZ SP01 shadow, looking to get a SW 686 6 inch soon. Often compete in 300m field target events using a SIG 550 and SIG 510.

                    ^ WOW!

I don?t shoot regularly but I?ve had a go a few times, very enjoyable.

I've only been shooting a couple of times. Once bisley firing some crappy pistol shot. A Lee Enfield and some long range rifles which was cool.

But of course I now picture you go shooting like this, rather than clays or whatnot...

I?m glad we have some of the tightest controls on guns of any country, although gun crime is on the rise.

I was in the Philippines for New Year?s Eve once & the amount of guns & home made explosives I saw in the celebrations was absolutely terrifying and completely awesome

I prefer forearms. Much less dangerous.
